Chelsea Lorraine, soprano, grew up in southeastern CT. Most recently, Chelsea’s performances included performing the role of Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, and collaborative recitals focused on art songs and chamber music. This year, she placed first in CT National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition advanced division and third in New England Regional NATS advanced division. Chelsea was a Masterclass Artist with the Art Song Preservation Society of New York in New York City, and has been performing with Opera Theater of Connecticut and Connecticut Lyric Opera during their last six seasons.
Chelsea holds a BA in music, and a Graduate Performer’s Certificate in Vocal Performance from the University of Connecticut, where she studied with celebrated mezzo-soprano, Meredith Ziegler. While at UConn, Chelsea performed various roles with UConn Opera Theater and Outreach, such as, Alice in Walter Slaughter’s Alice in Wonderland, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, and Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas.
Chelsea studies acting at HB Studio in NYC, with renowned acting teacher, Michael Beckett. Her acting studies have informed her passions for creating art that is honest and authentic.
Chelsea has been teaching voice for five years, where she encourages her students to find their joy in singing. Her students have been accepted to regionals, all-state and universities across CT. Chelsea maintains a private voice studio and voice studio at the University of Hartford’s Hartt Community Division.
Aside from her musical studies, Chelsea has a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Rhode Island. Chelsea’s interest in science and engineering helps to inform her understanding of the vocal mechanism and enthusiasm for vocal pedagogy.
